Congrats to our 2nd Grade All-Stars of the Month: Video-https://youtu.be/345btST-5hM 2nd Kindel-Lucas Terwilliger Lucas has been such an All-Star this school year, and it has been an honor watching him excel in second grade. Lucas is always trying his best to follow his ROARS even when there are distractions all around him. Lucas is a great friend, helper, and leader in and out of the classroom. Lucas is definitely ready for third grade next year, keep up the great work! Pineiro-October Ramirez-Earl October has been doing an awesome job. She is so kind-hearted and always willing to help those around her. I am so proud of her! October is a great student and role model and does a great job following her ROARS! Keep it up October! Rogers-Calvin Mazzuca Calvin is a very hard worker. I can count on him to follow his ROARS and be a role model to the rest of the class. He always is a great helper and a great friend to others. He strives to do his best and it shows in his work and his character. Keep up the great work Calvin, we are so glad you are part of our team! Trefil-Noah McLachlan Noah is a superstar! He follows his ROARS and treats others with extreme kindness. He has a big heart and has even taken on helping a new student learn the classroom and school expectations all on his own. I can't wait to see the awesome things Noah does in 3rd grade. We are proud to have Noah as a member of our class! Trefil-Nicholas Peterman Nicholas has been working hard all year and always comes into class with the phrase so what are we doing today. He is always ready to work and works hard. He is always someone who represents well what our ROARs should look like. He is a good Role Model and has even been seen helping students in lower grades. Nicholas always brings a smile to your face and works really hard. Peitsch-Kynlee Davidson Kynlee is our all-star student for April!! She is so sweet and always a helper to everybody. Kynlee tries her best in class and I can count on her to follow her ROARS and set a great example for everyone to follow. Keep up the amazing work!! Wolfe-Jackson Alspaugh Jackson is our April All-Star Student! Jackson has done a fantastic job following his ROARS inside the classroom. He is a hard worker and always tries his best. I am proud of everything you have done this year. Keep up the great work, Jackson! Art-Ella Mero-(Wolfe) The All-star of the Month in Art is Ella. Ella is a hard worker in art class and always lets her creativity shine! She is always a role model for demonstrating our R.O.A.R.S. and is never afraid to lend a helping hand to a classmate or Ms. Hahn. Ella, you are an AMAZING artist. I am PROUD to have you in class!

She is always following her ROARS, is respectful, kind, and willing to help with anything that needs to be done. I often catch Liara helping other students without being asked. She sees a need and fills it! I am SO proud of you Liara! Thank you for being such a wonderful example to others and for being a true All-Star! I will miss your big smile and hugs every day. Keep up the great work Liara! Elsea-Serenity Rojas Serenity is a very kind and caring person! She is always sitting quietly during our whole group learning time and does her best work on all assignments. Thank you, Serenity for being a great friend and role model in so many ways to all of your classmates. You are truly an All-Star! Gage-Maliya Wischmeyer Maliya is an extremely hard-working and kind student. She brings a good attitude with her to school every day. She is trustworthy, friendly, and always knows how to cheer somebody up. Maliya does an excellent job of displaying our ROARs here at Hillcrest. Great job Maliya! Guild-Hubbard-August McCarty-Cervantes August is an extremely hard-working and respectful student. He is always willing to participate in class and is always respectful to the teacher and his classmates. August takes pride in his work and always strives to do his absolute best and settles for nothing less. His handwriting is always neat and readable. His attitude is always positive. And he is very helpful. 2nd grade will be lucky to have you August. Lambert-EverLee Palmer EverLee has been working very hard all school year. She comes to school every day so excited to learn. She is a great team player and willing to help everyone around her. She gives 100% effort into everything she does. She is a great role model for the rest of the class. Keep up the great work EverLee! Langworthy-A.J. Umbarger A.J. is a kind & caring boy. He strives to follow his ROARS on a daily basis. He is hardworking & always engaged when learning. He is always engaged and willing to participate in class & answer questions. He strives to always work to the best of his ability. We are very thankful to have you in our classroom family, A.J. Keep up all the hard work. Lyon-Remington Hall 2, 4, 6, 8, who do we appreciate!?! Remington, Remington, yay Remington! Remington is a great teammate who is one of the first to help with any task. He often demonstrates his ROARS in all phases of the game. Remington is responsible with his learning and takes it seriously. Remington enjoys discussing the books we are reading and demonstrates safety in the classroom. I appreciate Remington's effort, determination, and willingness to help! Thank you for being a splendid teammate Remington! Lyon-Otto Dow Otto has been working hard this year. He remembers to follow his ROARS and sets a good example for others. She has worked hard to participate in classroom conversations and always gives her best in all that she does. Myka is kind and has a gentle spirit, which leads in the relationships she builds with others. Although we will miss her greatly here at Hillcrest next year, she is ready to ROCK 4th grade! Keep up the amazing work, Myka! DeJong-Eddie Pettipas Eddie has really rocked it this school year! He is a quiet helper, always asking to lend a hand or assist a classmate on their work. His confidence has grown immensely in his work this year and he always tries his best! Great job, Eddie! Keep up the amazing work! Faustmann/Brake-Keaton Raducha Keaton is an amazing student. He is a dedicated role model and is extremely hardworking. I can always count on Keaton whenever there is work to be done. He has acquired a lot of confidence these last few months and has participated appropriately in class discussions. He is conscientious and follows his ROARS at all times. I am so very proud to nominate Keaton as our classroom's Student of the Month. Faustmann/Brake-Leland Sloan Leland has been working very hard in small groups. He has done a nice job following his ROARS in the classroom and school. He has done a wonderful job participating in class and being kind to others! We appreciate Leland being a part of our team. Lamphere-Kinley Godfrey Kinley has worked very hard this month and it shows in her work! She is always willing to help her classmates and does her best to follow her ROARS. Kinley is a great student to have in any class and we are all very proud of her. Keep up the great work, Kinley! Lamphere-Sophie Thomas Sophie has done a great job this year! She does a great job showing her ROARS and is a friend to all. Sophie is a creative student who always works hard. Keep up the great work, Sophie! Greiner-Adyson Palmer Adyson is our All-Star for the Month of April! Adyson has really improved her confidence this year and went above and beyond this past month in showing her ROARS! Adyson did a great job helping others and being respectful to everyone within the classroom. Fantastic job Adyson, keep showing your ROARS! PE-Baylor Gibson (Faustmann/Brake) The PE student of the month for April is Baylor. She is someone who continues to be a role model in class. Baylor follows directions and is actively engaged the moment she enters the gym. She is respectful to her classmates and genuinely cares about others. She gives her best effort and encourages others to do the same. You will do great things, Baylor, keep being you!

Fun Run Rescheduled Date for Hillcrest- The Fun Run for Hillcrest will be on Thursday, May 23rd. Each grade will run around the east parking lot for a 30-minute time slot. Parents and families are welcomed to attend.

Due to the predicted rain for today, the Alma Elementary PTO Fun Run at Alma College has been canceled. We know this is disappointing as we have already raised over $50,000 for the event! Each building will schedule a Fun Run date at their own building and we will communicate that soon. Thank you for your understanding.

Every day, in every class, students participate in partner reading. This builds reading fluency while also working on interpersonal skills and building relationships.
